چکیده
Abstract Aim This study addresses surveillance cystoscopy in patients diagnosed with bladder and upper tract cancer. Managed Clinical Network (MCN) guidelines have clear recommendations for the timetable of follow-up cystoscopy, we conducted this audit to regional compliance. Method Using a multisite pathology database cancer cases from 2016, collected analysed data on 100 non-muscle invasive cancers. We took first 10 each month ensure cross-regional representation. Each case was stratified according MCN guidelines. Electronic medical records were examined assess follow up. allowed +/- 1 side target timeframe. Results had 64 male 36 female subjects. In our risk categories, 31 low risk, 37 intermediate 32 high 67 new cases, 33 recurrent tumours. (43.4%) low-risk 19 (79.2%) intermediate-risk underwent earlier than recommended 12-month 18 (78.3%) continued further cystoscopies after disease-free period. Conclusions 43.4% are receiving recommended. 78.3% these then undergoing unnecessary procedures following period against recommendations. places an increased burden clinic/theatre time contributes patient anxiety surrounding follow-up. Evidence-based medicine shown that less is more when it comes low-grade surveillance. now need why deviating own

Computed tomography virtual cystoscopy for follow-up of patients with superficial bladder tumours in comparison to conventional cystoscopy: An exploratory study
OBJECTIVE To evaluate and analyse the efficacy of computed tomography (CT) virtual cystoscopy in comparison to conventional cystoscopy for the follow-up of patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study was done over 3 years, from April 2010 to June 2013, and included 30 patients who all had non-muscle-invasive transitional cell carcinoma (Ta, T1). The patien...
متن کاملRisk-stratified surveillance and cost effectiveness of follow-up after radical cystectomy in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer
BACKGROUND The recurrence risk stratification and the cost effectiveness of oncological surveillance after radical cystectomy are not clear. We aimed to develop a risk stratification and a surveillance protocol with improved cost effectiveness after radical cystectomy. RESULTS Of 581 enrolled patients, 175 experienced disease recurrences. The pathology-based protocol presented significant dif...
متن کاملFlexible and Rigid Cystoscopy in Women
PURPOSE Previous studies have evaluated the tolerability of rigid versus flexible cystoscopy in men. Similar studies, however, have not been performed in women. We sought to determine whether office-based flexible cystoscopy was better tolerated than rigid cystoscopy in women. MATERIALS AND METHODS Following full IRB approval, women were prospectively randomized in a single-blind manner. Pati...
متن کاملHigh-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma of Bladder Transforming to Micropapillary Variant on Follow-Up
Micropapillary variant of urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder is an aggressive tumour, comprising 0.6-6% of all UC. It generally presents with high-grade and stage, and has been reported as having a worse prognosis when compared to traditional UC. We report the case of a 58-year-old man who presented with macroscopic haematuria. The patient was diagnosed with high-grade urothelial carcinom...
